This Week’s Pro Bono Success Story
January 10, 2011
A Navy sailor stationed in Florida was served with a lawsuit filed by a debt collector. The suit alleged an unpaid credit card debt more than four years old, and the pleadings were vague, lacked details for a specific claim, and failed to provide any documentation of the alleged debt. The Military Pro Bono Project was able to find the sailor free legal representation through a consumer law clinic at a local law school, which was ultimately able to obtain dismissal of the lawsuit.
