Volunteer Attorney Helped Soldier with SCRA Violation to Vacate Default Order
August 7, 2013
An Army servicemember unexpectedly had her wages garnished, and she then learned that a default judgment for medical expenses had been entered against her in violation of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). The soldier spoke to a military legal assistance attorney who referred her case to the ABA Military Pro Bono Project. The Project located a volunteer attorney who helped vacate the erroneous judgment and negotiate a favorable settlement for the soldier.
