Sailor Escapes DV and Obtains Divorce with Help from Pro Bono Attorney

A Navy servicemember was experiencing domestic violence at the hands of her husband. He returned to his home country, and she wanted to pursue a divorce, but was fearful that he would return to the country to continue the abuse once he learned she filed against him. The sailor visited a legal assistance attorney for help, and she was matched with a local family law attorney through the ABA Military Pro Bono Project. With her pro bono attorney’s help, a divorce decree was entered in the sailor’s favor, allowing her to get out of the abusive relationship and move on with her life.
