With Pro Bono Attorney’s Help, Airman’s Son with Special Needs Receives Needed Care at New School District
An Air Force servicemember moved to another state, and his autistic child was enrolled into a new school district. According to the law of the state, the Airman’s son should have received transition services when he moved to his new school, but unfortunately he did not receive the needed care, and his condition began to worsen as a result. With the school not providing his son with the needed care and his condition worsening, the Airman visited his local legal assistance office for help. The Airman’s legal assistance attorney referred his case to the ABA Military Pro Bono Project, which quickly placed his case with a pro attorney in time for a hearing with the school. The attorney negotiated with the school and ultimately secured extra training and care for the Airman’s son.
