Servicemember Successfully Retaining Contact with Children

July 3, 2012

After joining the Navy, a sailor’s child custody and visitation agreement no longer coincided with his military obligations, as he was stationed in California and his children resided with their mother in Minnesota. The mother then refused to allow access to the children. The servicemember was in need of a new visitation order that would match his military schedule. The ABA Military Pro Bono Project located a volunteer attorney in the Twin Cities, who successfully helped obtain a new court ordered parenting schedule for the servicemember, so he could stay involved in his children’s lives.
